This detailed handwritten account of a vacation tour taken with his second wife Louisa Sewell and their two sons to England and Scotland during the summer of 1889 was presented to Louisa as a birthday gift. Illustrated with small ink and wash sketches of scenes. They sailed with James Russell Lowell on the "Cephalonia" and the journal records a few itemes from their conversations. Notes on the family's tour through the Lake District give details on landscape and architecture. Cabot wrote the diary leaving small spaces to be filled later with sketches and drawings, many of which are left unfilled, though there are over 50 illustrations throughout.
